| Miraculously we're all alive...tragically the tour ends. 7/19/05 @ 6:54am We got in a really bad car accident last night. All 4 of us somehow emerged unscathed, but the same can't be said for our car, truck, or gear. The car flipped, we landed upside down, the trailer flew off and landed 15 feeet away. Tour is cancelled...we're stuck somewhere in New Mexico until we can figure out insurance stuff and how to ship what's working back home. what a ridiculous end. the wreck 7/19/05 @ 7:17pm |

| Watch out for Rabbits 7/31/05 @ 10:43pm Arguably the most absurd and awful two days of my life occurred on July 19th and 20th. Starting with the wreck, life totally kicked our ass for a solid 50 hours. We flipped the car about 15 miles outside of Fort Sumner, NM and had to stay at the crash site for four and a half hours before the state trooper and sheriff drove us in to town. The next day we went to the tow yard and got all our crap from the car and trailer. Somehow, almost all of our gear was intact and working (Hamilton’s amp-head being the exception). After hours and hours of insurance phone-calls and getting our pasty asses sunburned, we figured out that we’d ship our gear from Albuquerque via a moving company and trash the car and trailer (insurance would take care of most of that stuff). Michael and Hamilton hitched a three-hour ride with the towing company to Albuquerque along with the trailer and our gear while Rohan and I were driven 45 minutes by the owner of the towing company to Santa Rosa, NM where we could pick up a Greyhound bus to Albuquerque. Unfortunately, the bus didn’t leave until 10:10pm and we were dropped off at 7:30. The bus station itself was closed and there was a mangy pitbull and two other large mutts wandering around the area while a rowdy redneck bar directly across the street seethed with crystal meth and ZZ Top songs. Rohan and I--or “Arab Fuck” and “Jew Boy” (according to our feared enemies in the bar)--prayed that we wouldn’ t succumb to the wild dogs or filthy cowboys across the street. Greyhound couldn’t have appeared soon enough. We got into Albuquerque at 12:30am, met up with Hamilton and Michael at a motel, and then flew to our respective homes the next day. We blew all the money we made on shipping costs for our gear and airplane tickets…so now I’m home broke and without a job. Awesome. On the bright side, we have more time to write our full-length now, and will be playing our first post-crash show on September 1st at the Knitting Factory with Chinese Stars and Rye Coalition. |
